Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 June 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Brievly for using the app. They cover what Brievly does, what it doesn't, what we expect from you, and the limits of what we can promise.
By creating an account or using Brievly, you agree to them. If you don't, that's okay — but please don't use the app.
The short version
- Brievly helps you understand your mail. It's a smart assistant, not a lawyer, accountant, or doctor.
- AI can get things wrong. For anything important, check the original letter and the deadlines yourself.
- Brievly is free to try; unlimited scanning and the extras need a subscription, billed through the app stores.
- Your letters are yours. We only use them to run the service, and never to train AI.

What Brievly is — and what it isn't
Brievly takes a photo of a physical letter and uses AI to give you a plain-language summary, the action it thinks is required, and any deadlines it spots. It's built to make scary paperwork less scary.
It is not a substitute for professional advice. A summary from Brievly is not legal, financial, tax, medical, or official advice, and it isn't a guarantee that a letter has been read completely or correctly. AI can misread, mistranslate, or miss something — including a deadline.
Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old to use Brievly. By using it, you confirm you are, and that the information you give us is accurate.
Your account
You sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password. You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure. Let us know promptly if you think someone else has gained access.
Using Brievly responsibly
Brievly is for reading mail you're allowed to read. When you use it, you agree that:
- you have the right to scan and process the letters you upload;
- you won't use Brievly for anything unlawful, or to process someone else's mail without a proper basis to do so;
- you won't try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service or the AI behind it.
Your letters stay yours
You keep all rights to the letters and content you put into Brievly. You grant us only the limited permission we need to store and process them in order to provide the service to you — for example, sending an image to our EU-based AI to be read. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we don't share it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Brievly running well, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. We may update, change, or discontinue features over time.
Our responsibility — and its limits
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intent or gross negligence, or under mandatory consumer-protection law.
Beyond that, and to the fullest extent the law allows: Brievly is a convenience tool, and we are not liable for losses arising from relying on an AI summary — such as a missed deadline, a misread amount, or a misunderstood letter. Always verify important details against the original document.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Brievly and delete your account at any time (see our account-deletion guide). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or misuses the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Brievly grows. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Brievly after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
Brievly is available worldwide, but this agreement is governed by the laws of Germany, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your own country of residence. The EU provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr; we are otherwise happy to sort out any issue with you directly.
